Chandigarh prepares for Journalists' Literature Festival to spark intellectual discourse

The Chandigarh Press Club is set to host the first-ever "Journalists' Literature Festival" from February 23 to 25, welcoming over 50 journalists, authors, and translators from various parts of India. The festival aims to provide insights into societal issues through the unique perspective of journalism.

Engaging sessions and themes

The three-day event, themed "By the journalists, for the society," will feature sessions conducted in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, starting from 11:30 am each day. The festival's agenda includes discussions on diverse topics such as the valor of the Indian military, the role of translation in information dissemination, and the cultural significance of Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi literature. Additionally, a "Kavi Sammelan" showcasing regional journalists' poetry will add a cultural touch to the proceedings.

Day-wise highlights

The first day of the festival will delve into themes like Hindi journalism, sports in India, national and regional politics, and the India-US relationship. The day will culminate with a musical evening and a game of tambola for club members.

On the second day, participants can look forward to sessions on fiction writing, alternative media, cricket, and exploring women’s history in India. These sessions promise to offer enriching insights into various aspects of journalism and societal discourse.
